Dr. Ghosh was born in Burdwan, West Bengal, India to Baburam and Urmila Ghosh on January 5, 1957. He graduated from Jadavpur University with a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry. He married Sanchita Ghosh on January 26, 1989 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
Dr. Ghosh was a well-respected research scientist working on cutting-edge research at the National Institutes of Health for over 20 years.
Dr. Ghosh was a vital member of the Bengali community at large, always ready to lend a helping hand, a kind word, and a cheerful smile. He was an active member of Sanskriti. He held various offices in Sanskriti including its presidency. He was a founding member of Sahajatri, a mutual aid organization created to aid elderly community members with everyday tasks like appointments and errands.
Dr. Manik Ghosh is survived by his wife, Sanchita, his daughter, Sanchari, and his son, Souvik.

Funeral services will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 12th at National Funeral Home in Falls Church, Virginia.
