HUGHES LINDA SHARON HUGHES Linda Sharon Hughes of Arlington, VA passed away at age 67 on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Daughter of Roy and Betty Edwards, Linda was born in Washington DC and grew up and lived in Northern Virginia most of her life. She is survived by her partner John Clark and her brother Greg Edwards, his wife Terri Edwards and sons, Linda's nephews, Eran, Roy and Christopher Edwards. Linda was Great Aunt to Eran's son Peter and Roy's son Avery. Linda was a loving and thoughtful person who will be missed by many. She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and her unconditional support and love for family and friends. For the past 30 years, Linda worked at the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and had recently retired in June as the Director of the Office of Ethics and District Branch/State Association Relations. In this position, Linda is credited with having created the DB/SA Executive Staff Leadership Conference and several other important initiatives. Previous positions at the APA included her work in the Department of Government Relations and the Council on Psychiatry and Law. She was highly respected and during the course of her career, Linda mentored many who benefitted from her effective leadership and considerable knowledge. There will be a service on Saturday September 6, 2014 at 4:00PM at National Memorial Park 7482 Lee Hwy in Falls Church Va. After the service join the family and friends for a celebration of Linda's life with food and conversation at the Edwards home 7114 Camp Alger Ave. Falls Church, VA 22042.
