I live in Centreville, VA and attend Olam Tikvah in Fairfax.  I heard of Rabbi Weintraub’s passing a few years back from a couple whom he officiated at their wedding many years ago but just now came across this site.

Rabbi Weintraub was an integral part of my childhood years.  Hebrew school and junior congregation as well as my Bar Mitzvah in 1976, all at Temple Israel.  He even presided, along with Cantor Barry, in July 1984, while sitting Shivah upon the passing of my mom.

I will never forget his presence at Temple Israel and the influence he had over many lives, to include mine.

I just found out that Uncle Lewis passed.  My deepest sympathy to Rebecca, Samuel, Simkah and all the entire family.  Love and miss you all.

My deepest condolences to the Weintraub family. We met him way back in 1969 when we immigrated from Argentina. We not only enjoyed him through services at Temple Israel, we often had Shabbat dinners with another family. He will be greatly missed.

I heard about Rabbi Weintraub's passing only tonight. My heart goes out to you all at this time of sadness. He officiated at every lifecycle ceremony in my family, including my wedding and those of my brother and sister. I have thought of him often on the eve of my ordination in June as he was the ideal rabbinic role model - a brilliant scholar and teacher and a mensch.

I was greatly saddened to see the news of your beloved husband and father's passing. My family were members of Temple Israel from the 1960's. I revered Rabbi Weintraub like I did my Grandfather Kaplan.  Both learned men who deserved great respect.  I remember when my grandmother on my mother's side passed away, the Rabbi paid our family a condolence call.  What makes it stand out in my mind, is that we were not home at the time, and when we returned, there was the Rabbi sitting on our front steps waiting.  The Rabbi presided over my bas mitzvah, and my parents' thirtieth anniversary Shabbat.  Also, it so happened that the Rabbi and Mrs. Weintraub were visiting Israel in 1993 when my brother got married.  They both attended, and the Rabbi was a witness to the kettubah signing.  I'm thankful for his presence during this occasions.  May he rest in peace.

 I can only echo so many the thoughts and memories stated here.  My parents, Morris and Shirley, were among the founding members of Temple Israel. Rabbi Weintraub and the schul were an important part of my childhood.  May you memories be a source of blessing.

Rabbi Weintraub married my husband and I almost 40 years ago, in 1973.   We've had a good life and raised 2 wonderful sons.    My husband, my brother, and I all attended his Sunday school.    He made our world a better place.    Shalom, Rabbi.

I was Bar Mitzvah'd at Temple Israel, Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1960, and Rabbi Weintraub presided at the service there.   He also officiated at my sister's wedding in 1973.  Many decades later, circa 2005, I spied a familiar face across the swimming pool here in Deerfield Beach, Florida.  I walked over and asked, "Are you Lewis Weintraub, Rabbi Lewis Weintraub?"  He was, indeed.  What were the chances that of all the retirement communities in Florida, we would not only share the same one, but also the same little cluster of buildings and its swimming pool within that vast community?  I photographed him with his wife and visiting family.   He was a great scholar who will be sorely missed and warmly remembered.

I had the honor to davven for Rabbi Weintraub as the Cantor at the Ring House for the past 5 years. Seeing him and speaking with him was always a pleasure. Having grown up in the area I remember seeing him when we had our AZA meetings at the shul. May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

In the summer of 1971, after returning to my desk, I saw a memo that the 'rabbit' had called to speak to me.  On 10-16-71, Rabbi Weintraub officiated at my wedding ceremony at Temple Israel.  He blessed a union that lasted 40 years, 3 months and 3 days till my husband's death.  I'll always remember Rabbi's kindness and smiling face.  My condolences to all his family and friends.

I, like many of my friends over the years have many fine memories of Rabbi Weintraub. The years of hebrew school, my Bar Mitzvah at Temple Isreal during the 70's, my wedding in the 80's, and sadly the passing of my parents. Rabbi Weintraub was a part of my life, he was always caring and had the most calming effect on everyone. He will always be rememebered in the Thorner family, my heart and prayers go out to his family during this time.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Rabbi Weintraub's family.  He was very important in my life as he officiated my Bat Mitzvah in 1966 amd my wedding in 1976. I will always have fond memories of attending services at Temple Israel with my family as a yuong child and young adult.  May you find peace in the days ahead.

We were fortunate to have Rabbi Weintraub officiate at our wedding and baby naming of our daughter Robyn.  He was a gentle, warm and knowledgable man, loved by my parents and most who knew him..or condolences to Fannie and his family...Judi and Jerry Fried, formerly from Potomac

Rabbi Weintraub was such a wonderful man. When we moved away from MD, I always spoke highly of my Rabbi I left behind. Running into him when I was studying in Israel was a wonderful surprise. He will be dearly missed. My condolences go out to the entire family.

Dear Weintraub family, so many of my childhood memories center around the Temple Israel family, and the culture of love and respect and learning that Rabbi Weintraub instilled.  Through the holidays, Bat Mitzvah, confirmation, our wedding and the welcoming of our children, Rabbi Weintraub was there. I loved and respected him, and his values were always a model to me.

Rabbi Weintraub was such an important part of my growing up. He officiated at my Bat Mitzvah, confirmation and wedding. I took classes with him and sought advice from him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and wish you strength and peace through this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.
