Leo C. Connolly, age 85 of Falls Church, VA, passed away on March 21, 2014 after a brief illness. Leo’s wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Hartman Connolly survives him, as well as his son, Mark P. Connolly, of Falls Church, VA. His parents, Christopher M. and Florence M. Connolly, of Portland, Maine, and twin-brother, Lyndon Connolly, of Portland, Maine, preceded him in death.
Leo was born in Portland, Maine and graduated from Portland High School, Class of 1947. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired as Chief Master Sergeant, after serving 23 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He then began a second career working for Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service and retires in December 1990 as Chief Foreign Service Personnel Operations, Personnel Division. He attended the University of Maryland, University of Alaska, and Belleville Jr. College, Belleville, Illinois.
Leo was a member of United Methodist Church for 55 years.
Leo is also survived by one nephew, great-niece and several cousins, all of the greater Portland, Maine area; nephews and nieces in Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia; cousins, Paul C., Kayla M., and Evan M. Connolly, of Alexandria, VA.
A memorial service will be held at , Falls Church, VA, on April 3, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
