Lenora Christina Spelman, 87, of Annandale, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015. She is together again with the love of her life, her husband H. James Spelman, Jr (Jimmy), who went on ahead on February 8, 2015 to get things ready for his bride of 68 years.
Lenora was born on MacArthur Boulevard and raised in Washington DC. She attended Western High School and worked as a model. It was there that she met her future husband. They were married on June 1st, 1946.
Lenora is also predeceased by her parents, Edward and Katherine Schilling, her brother Edward Jr. and her sister and brother- in-law Rick and Barbara Thompson.
Lenora is survived by their two sons, Harold J. Spelman, III (Hal and his wife Barbara), Gregory Lewis Spelman and sister-in-law Beverly Schilling. Lenora also leaves behind her much-adored Granddaughter, Hal’s daughter Rebecca Young, her husband Jason and their sons, Lenora’s Great-Grandchildren, Calen and Ethan.
Lenora was a loyal and active member of the church that she and Jim loved, Annandale United Methodist Church. She was also an established artist and her paintings are of what she saw on their travels, and around the Spelman house in LeRoy, NY and the cabin Jim built for the family, outside of Berkley Springs, WVA.
Her funeral service is at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the National Funeral Home at 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.Burial will follow.
