Janet was born in the small community of Shenandoah, VA in 1932. She was a vibrant beauty who was celebrated early in life when she won Miss Shenandoah in 1948. She was blessed with unusual beauty throughout her life, a source of great pride to her. She was also a very intelligent, and sometimes an outspoken person who was never shy about her voicing her ideas and viewpoints. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society which led her to obtain employment with the Federal Government and move to Washington, DC after high school.
Janet was eventually employed by the National Security Agency (NSA), where she met her future husband Earl Clark, Jr. They soon married and both continued to work for the NSA throughout the Cold War era when the international information gathering capabilities of the agency were very critical to the national defense of the United States.
During this period Janet and Earl made their home and raised their daughters in the Maryland suburbs, nearby Washington DC, and later in the Northern Virginia area. Upon Earl’s retirement from NSA in 1986, the couple left Virginia and moved to a new home they built together in Sun City West, AZ where Janet resided until her death.
In recent years, it was Janet’s strong desire to move back to her native Virginia, but cancer took her life before that dream could be realized. Her family has returned her to Virginia for burial, and she will now be home again for eternity. May God bless and keep Janet, and make his face to shine upon her and give her peace.
