John Albert Spahr Sr.

John Albert (Jack) Spahr Sr., 96 years old, of Falls Church, Virginia peacefully passed away in his home on December 29, 2021. Jack was born on October 5, 1925 in El Dorado, IL to James and Gertrude Spahr. He enlisted in the Navy at 16 and served in every major battle of the South Pacific in WWII. Upon returning from the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Thelma Louise McConnell. Jack became a very successful insurance broker and real-estate developer, eventually settling in Falls Church where he and Thelma raised five children.

Jack is survived by his wife Thelma of 76 years. He is also survived by his five children – Sandra and her husband Anthony Esparza; Jack Spahr, Jr.; Judy and her husband Larry Mason; Bruce and his wife Joy Spahr and Debra and her husband James Ninteman. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very involved in his local parish, a friend to all he met and a helping hand to those in need. Jack loved hunting, fishing, camping, sailing and spending time

with family

He will be greatly missed.

A Mass will be held at St. Phillip Catholic Church on Saturday on January 22, 2022 at 2 PM. For those wanting to send flowers please have them delivered to St. Phillip Catholic Church.
