Helen M. Preston passed away on July 30, 2015 at her home in Arlington, Virginia. Helen was born in Boonville, Missouri on August 31, 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. Pete D. Christus. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her beloved husband, Robert T. Preston. She is survived by two dearly loved daughters and sons-in-law, Sallie and Steve Casto of Falls Church, Virginia and Paulette and Lee Rainie of McLean, Virginia, and five cherished grandchildren, Kevin Preston Casto, Clayton Steven Rainie, Abigail Sallie Rainie, Christina Preston Mortifoglio, and Amanda Roediger. Helen was offered a position in personnel management with the U.S. Army on Okinawa in 1951. She lived and worked there for over 20 years, traveling throughout the Far East. In 1971, she and her family returned to the U.S., settling in McLean, Virginia. Helen then accepted a position at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration where she proudly served for 15 years. She was awarded the Attorney General’s Award for Superior Service during the Reagan Administration. In 2011, Helen moved to the Jefferson Retirement Community, where she lived until her death. Helen was a writer all her life; a book of her children’s stories was published in 2013. Helen was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean for 32 years, and she was a member of PEO. Internment was held at National Memorial Park in Falls Church. A Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1125 Savile Lane, McLean Virginia on Tuesday August 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
