

Helen was born in Seoul, Korea to Lee Guen Ok and Kim Jong Ok on April 18, 1944. She went to school in Seoul. She married William J. Kang in 1967 in Seoul and then immigrated to the US in 1972.
She studied music and voice at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. She sang in multiple choirs as a high soprano and soloist. She has performed at Carnegie Hall and has had several solo performances including her last public performance for her 75th birthday in Fairfax, Virginia.
Helen is survived by her 4 children and their families: James and her eldest granddaughter Abigail; John & Kaylee and her grandchildren Andrew and Evelyn; So-Young; Lisa & Sammy Chon and her granddaughters Eleanor, Aliza and Immanuelle.
The Kang family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our family, friends and community who have come from near and far to celebrate the life of our beloved mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at National Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Chul, officiating. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park on Sunday, February 11, 2024 with a viewing at 10 AM and burial at 11 AM.
