Frederick Lee James, normally known as “Fearless Freddie” or the “Witch-doctor” age 77, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on October 29, 2015. He was born in Boulder, Colorado, January 2, 1938. Fred was a graduate of Washington-Lee High School and attended Long Beach State University. Fred had a passion for dancing, football and healing. He was honored by being inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a celebrated Dance Teacher at the O’Neill James School of Irish and Ballroom Dancing, a Football Coach for Bishop O’Connell High School and several Minor League Football teams in the area. Among his accomplishments were his involvement in the “All-American Championships” and Nation’s Capital Feis. He was a member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and the British Association of Teachers of Dancing and is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Laureen and his devoted sons, Fred James, Jr. and Robert James. The family welcomes friends on Friday, November 6, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad St. Falls Church. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 7 at St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Ave., Falls Church, with burial immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery. Celebration of his life will also take place after the burial at the Knights of Columbus, 5115, Little Falls Rd, Arlington, VA. from 12:PM – 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital Caring Hospice, 905 N. Glebe Rd., Suite 500, Arlington, VA 22205.
