Ellen Sue Schor

Ellen Sue (Weintrob) Schor, 75, died April 11, 2012. She was the wife of the late Martin H. Schor. Ellen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was raised and early educated there. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Frances Weintrob. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Barnard University in NYC, and later her Master’s Degree in Education from New York University

She married May 29, 1960, settling in Connecticut, and later New York. She and her family moved to Virginia in 1976. She worked as an elementary school teacher in the Special Education Department and also taught English as a second language at several programs for children and adults.

She was an extremely giving person, donating her time and resources to many charities, social groups, and to those less fortunate. Supporting environmental causes and promoting the Arts were her two biggest passions.

She is survived by her loving family , her son Matthew J. Schor and wife Nicole; her daughter Erica J. wife of Stephen Fairbank; also leaves 5 grandchildren, Michael, and Jacob Schor; and Justin, Melissa, and Thomas Fairbank. Ellen also leaves two sisters Riva Mandel and Meta Willis.
