Edna Petrie Dougherty

A resident of McLean, VA., Mrs. Dougherty passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was the loving wife of James E. Dougherty who pre-deceased her; beloved mother of James E. Dougherty, MD and his wife Maureen A. Dougherty. She is also survived by her grandsons, Matthew R. and his wife Carrie M. Dougherty, MD and Kevin R. Dougherty, MD and his wife Heather Tory Dougherty, MD; Great-grandchildren Ryan and Sadie Dougherty (VA) & Madeleine and Patrick Dougherty (CT) Mrs. Dougherty was a stay at home mom during the early portion of her career, followed thereafter long term at the Office of Naval Research within the Department of the Navy. She was active at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with the post comers club and other activities. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101 on Monday, January 25 at 10:30 AM. Interment at Columbia Gardens will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, www.macular.org.
