Our beloved father, friend and companion David Page Bicksler went home to the Lord on June 17, 2021, just two months shy of his 80th birthday. He grew up on Park Street in Vienna by the railroad where his father was station master.
After graduating from Fairfax High School in 1960, he began a lifelong career as a Cartographer at the USGS Survey in Reston, VA. He built a home in Nokesville, Virginia in 1974 where he lived the rest of his life.
David was a true patriot. He loved to travel and drove to every corner of the United States and Canada. The Outer Banks of NC and the mountains of West Virginia were two frequent destinations for camping and fishing, and he later came to love the Western states, especially Arizona and Montana. He was an avid reader and well-versed on the subjects of travel, space, science, history and nature. He found much contentment in observing nature and grew an abundant garden. Over the years he was a proud and loving owner of many cats, German shepherd dogs, bunnies and horses. He had a lifelong love of cars and enjoyed his Harley Davidson. Many of our best memories are sharing a great meal and conversation.
He leaves behind his partner of over forty years, Regina Kerns, his daughters Laura Penny (Indiana) and Jennifer Kennedy (Georgia) and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Nancy Toy (Florida).
We will forever miss his devotion to his home and family, his kind and caring nature and his wit.
