Beloved husband, father and friend passed away March 28th. Survived by his wife, Anne, son, Matthew and many loving extended family members and friends. Whitewater kayaker, avid bicyclist, fan of science fiction and lover of active family adventures. Born in Pittsburgh and long-time Seattle resident. Professor of Electrical Engineering University of Washington; founder of UW's Intelligent Transportation Systems Lab. Past President of International Electronic and Electrical Engineers Intelligent Transportation Society. Recently a visiting scientist at Turner Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Whitewater or Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
Memorial gathering will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 4:30 pm at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church.
