She is survived by her five children, Dawn Secada, Keith Thacker, Cindy Harrison, Michael Wood and Christian Winter as well as her four grandchildren, Kara, Noah, Jonah, and Isaac.
Carolyn was born July 14, 1943, in Alexandria, Virginia. She and her sister, Felicia Beard, are the children of Robert and Doris Godsey, both deceased. Carolyn grew up in Alexandra, raising her family in Mount Vernon and Mclean. She retired to Leesburg in 2005.
Carolyn’s family and friends all remember the rare, gracious, giving soul she was. Like a vibrant songbird, her extraordinarily loving spirit soared wherever she went. For those of us privileged to have known Carolyn, none will forget the smiling radiance, the genuine attentiveness, or the Golden Rule manner in which she embraced everyone. If you knew Carolyn, you know what love looks like.
