On February 4, 2020, our beloved Carolyn left her earthly home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. Carolyn was born on Dec. 5, 1947, in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Arlington, VA. She held administrative positions with DCA, CSC and PRC before “retiring” to be a full-time Mom which included being a Girl Scout Troop leader, and a newspaper carrier for the Washington Post. She was an amazing quilter, enjoyed fishing with her children and grands and spending time in Massanutten, Williamsburg and the Outer Banks, NC. She was an adoring Washington Nationals fan and especially loved her long wished for fancy red pick-up truck.
She is survived by her dear loving husband Earl, her children, Patrick Devine, Mathew Scherer and Colleen (Josh) Romrell, grandchildren, James, Erin (their mother, April Morgan) and Melissa, sister, Pat Highley, brother, Daniel Parker III, and cherished family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy., Falls Church, VA on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 1:00 pm for visitation followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 2:00 pm, adjourning to the gravesite for internment.
Friends are cordially invited to attend a reception in Carolyn’s honor at the National Funeral Home following internment.
The family extends sincere thanks to Capital Caring for their warm and kind support during Carolyn’s illness.
