Candice was a valued member of the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Patient Administration Department, where she excelled as a Medical Records Technician since 2011 and was able to fulfill her life’s passion of helping others in her professional life. She held a number of other positions in prior years as a Medical Records Specialist, including time at the St. Luke’s Health Network and Regional Breast Center in Center Valley, PA.
Giving her time generously, Candice enjoyed volunteering to help with charitable events, honoring Veteran organizations and participating in the annual regional Christmas Ingathering organized by the Lehigh Mission District, where she volunteered with her mother and the team of local churches to meet the needs of more than a dozen different agencies aiding those in need in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.
From the day she was born into this world, our sweet Candice could not contain the love, laughter, and compassion she had for those around her, which constantly overflowed into their lives and hearts. A friend for life, Candice radiated hope and kindness, loved selflessly, and devoted her giving heart to her passions fearlessly. Always willing to do the emotional ‘heavy lifting’, she would jump in immediately when a friend, family member, coworker, or complete stranger was in need of help or comfort.
Candice was adored by all of her immediate and extended family and friends, especially the young children, nieces, and nephews. She was fiercely protective of her twin brother Brandon, who always held a special place in her heart even though she would readily remind him that she was born first and older than him. He always had her back while affectionately referring to his “Sissy”, which would quickly catch on as she became everyone’s favorite Sis. As a young cheerleader at the Springfield Youth Club, she enjoyed cheering on her brother at basketball and football games with her girl crew.
This was just one of several endearing nicknames Candice easily earned, such as the “Social Butterfly” and realization that she had been born with wings. Whether at a family gathering, new friends getting together or an unfamiliar social setting, Candice’s radiant smile would quickly light any size room with her positive energy, fluttering among those present to lift the mood and break the ice no matter whatever it took to bring joy. With a seemingly endless list of close friends, many became part of the family. Shallin, Tonya, and Candice would get together so often they were referred to as the “Three Musketeers”. Those blessed to call Candice their friend knew they had a friend for life, a sister and someone they could depend on. Among those many precious and treasured memories, there was nothing quite like receiving that big hug from Sissy.
Always a force to be reckoned with, Candice gave her time and resources selflessly to those she knew and those she did not, often encouraging others to do so, impacting many lives and the community around her at every opportunity. Whether helping out a friend, a local church, or gathering gifts for those less fortunate she led with her heart well beyond concern for her own needs. Her inclusive approach to life naturally united others and served her mission well, bringing much joy to those around her.
Candice was as free spirited as she was beautiful. Among her many interests, she absolutely loved music, laughter, and dancing. Although she will be terribly missed, her amazing spirit will live forever in our hearts, fondly remembered as a vibrant, energetic, loving, compassionate, and selfless soul. Among her precious memories include time walking with Joe and Apollo at Pohick Park, eating seafood at Tim’s River Shore with family and friends, boating with dad on the Potomac River, shopping trips with mom, and nightly crafting sessions with the grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her many acts of kindness were enjoyed by all that knew her and many that did not. Candice was cherished by many but perhaps none like Grandma Pat and Nana - with whom she shared such close connections.
