BROADUS “BUD” H. KING, JR.
May 13, 1925 – August 30, 2013
On August 30, 2013, Broadus H. King, Jr. of Falls Church, VA passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home surrounded by his family. Bud is survived by his wife of six years Carol Ann King. He is also survived by his loving children Dee Benda of Potomac Falls, Daniel King of Alexandria, Nicole King of Midlothian, VA and Suzanne Jennelle of Centreville; two adoring grandchildren Tyler Jennelle and Natalie King; and his nephew and niece, Ford Oliver and Page Oliver.
Bud was born in Roanoke, VA and grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. He attended The Lawrenceville School and received a BS degree in Economics in 1946 from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Following college, he served in the US Navy and the US Navy reserves for 17 years.
Bud’s early corporate career included leadership positions at UNIVAC and ARIES Corp. He pioneered the first computerized large scale information retrieval systems for statistical, accounting and financial management data. In 1988 he was the Secretary and Treasurer of General Analytics Corp. in McLean, VA. In 1995 he acquired Compusearch Software Systems where he remained until his retirement in 2005.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services Friday, September 6, 2013 2:00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4250 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington, VA. A reception will follow. Private interment on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke, VA.
