

Blanche H. Moore, 96, passed away at her home on October 26 of natural causes. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and lived in Northern Virginia for 47 years.
She was a graduate of Little Flower High School, Philadelphia, class of 1946, and Chestnut Hill College, class of 1950. She married her true love, Jacques J. Moore on December 27, 1952. They were married for 58 years until his passing in 2010.
Blanche H. Moore was formerly on the board of Washington Performing Arts Society, and Catholic Distance University, and was very devoted to Mount St. Mary’s University and Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD. She was also a long-time supporter of Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy. Blanche was very dedicated to the training of new priests and counts many of them among her close friends, She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church for 47 years and was very active with the Senior’s group. She was particularly active with the pen pal program between seniors and third graders from St. Luke School. This connection with young people brought her great joy and lasting friendships with children and their parents.
Blanche was a talented musician and played the harp and the piano along with her well-trained soprano voice. For many years she loved hosting Christmas sing-a-longs with neighbors, friends and family where her well-worn song books came out every year to bring good cheer to everyone.
Beloved wife of the late Jacques J. Moore, Sr.; she is survived by her children, Blanche Milligan of Providence, RI and Jacques J. Moore, Jr. of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Jacques, J. Moore, III, Charles H. Mize, MD, Nicholas and Nathaniel Risteen, and Mary Moore; and great-grandchildren August and Hope Risteen. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Finegan and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Christian Mass at 11 a.m. location will be St. Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA. Interment will be on Wednesday, November 20 at 1pm. at Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation in honor of her late husband, Jacques J. Moore, Sr. at National Parkinson Foundation Gift Processing Center, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
