Christmas Day 2019

I did not know Ben however, vicariously, I met him last evening (Christmas Eve) while flying through an airport where his Aunt and I had a chance meeting when she left her handbag behind at a restaurant while seated briefly next to me.

After confirming with another guest that the handbag was left behind, and giving it to the server for safekeeping, I scoured the Concourse and quickly found the owner (amazing in and of itself). I asked if she had left her handbag behind, which she discovered she had.

I stayed with her belongings at the outlet while she returned to retrieve the handbag. 

When she returned she told me of her travel from CA to spend Christmas in MA with family.  She mentioned how this year the family had lost Ben, her nephew.

As we were exchanging Merry Christmas and safe travel greetings, I reflected the chance encounter, and how Ben’s “special hand” was ensuring her safe passage.

Condolences for your loss. Ben was and is a special person. 🙏🏻

I did not know this young man.  I read his obituary in the paper today.  I am so sorry  to his family and loved ones for your loss.  It definitely sounds like he will be greatly missed.  I am sad that he was so sad.  bless you all

Ben was fourteen when we first met him. The thing that I most remember is when he told me he liked to cook. He told me that when I told him stories of how I like to cook pigs underground. That night at the age of fourteen he decided to show off his chicken wings. I have to admit the wings were spicy and delicious. He seemed so proud after I told him he was a great cook.  I also remember him running away from the waves at the beach. What fun we had just watching him have fun. We will forever miss you.
The day was very windy but we were all having fun on the beach and watching Ben try to beat the waves as they came rolling in and I was taking pictures of him and the smile he had on his face.
