It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Scott D. Casey, age 55, a former resident of Dighton and Fall River, on March 4, 2025. He was the son of Linda (Norcutt) Casey of Fall River and the late Robert D. Casey. Scott was a dedicated firefighter with the Fall River Fire Department since 2002, where he served with honor and commitment. He was set to retire in May of 2025, and his contributions to the community will never be forgotten.
Scott was not only a remarkable firefighter but also had a diverse career that included five years as a police officer with the Fall River Police Department. He also held part-time positions with the Bristol County Sheriff's Department, Haddad Electric, and New England Boat Works, showcasing his strong work ethic and dedication to serving others.
A proud graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Scott also served in the United States Navy, embodying the values of duty and service. He was a passionate fan of the Boston Bruins and Dallas Cowboys, he enjoyed the thrill of MotoGP, Supercross, NASCAR and riding his motorcycles.
Scott found solace in cooking delicious meals, fishing, and playing cards with family. He also had a fondness for Keno and enjoyed sipping bourbon while relaxing with his beloved cat, Bailey. His warm spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by his Life Partner of 25 years, Heather Nesby of Fall River; his sister Jennifer Casey of Somerset; his niece Ava Casey; Heather's parents Larry and Bonnie Nesby of Portland, TX and Heather's brother Michael Nesby of Middletown, RI.
His Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Visiting Hours will be Wednesday, from to 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott's honor may be made to The 100 Club of Massachusetts, which assists families of fallen heroes during their time of need at www.100clubmass.org .
