Ruth (Horan) Murphy

Born in Fall River the daughter of the late James H. and Lillian (Potts) Horan, Sr., she spent a majority of her life in Fall River before moving to Somerset four years ago.

Mrs. Murphy was employed as an Assembler at Foxboro Co., Raytheon and Firestone Tire and Rubber. She was a member of the South Main Place Senior Center while a resident in the Hudner Building.

She is survived by her daughter, Lillian E. Soares and her husband Manuel of Somerset, a granddaughter, Maxanne S. Wordell of London, England, a great-granddaughter, Murphy Nicole of London, England; a sister, Lillian Rogers of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late James H. Horan, Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 8am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by her funeral mass at 9am in Notre Dame Church, 529 Eastern Ave., Fall River. Visiting hours Friday from 4 to 7pm. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
