Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel and Mary Rego, he was a life-long resident of the city.
Richie was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and later served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. A Machine Operator for the Jackson Company in Fall River for many years, he also worked at Ace Liquors and Globe Liquors. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching them.
In addition to his former wife he is survived by his companion, Agnes Leduc of Fall River; one son, Richard Rego, Jr. of Fall River; one daughter, Kimberly Rego of New York; cousin, Lorie Veilleux; his caregiver and companions’ daughter, Pauline Habib and four grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with Agnes’ grandchildren, Aaron Leduc, William Osbaldeston Jr. and Melinda Leduc
He was also the father of the late Jason Rego and brother of the late Rodney Rego.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 12:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. His visitation is prior to the service in the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in MA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
