He was born in Fall River, the son of the late Joaquim “Jack” and Evangeline “Lena” (Silvia) Machado. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, attended Bristol Community College and was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving as a Forward Air Controller in Vietnam during the war.
Mr. Machado was employed as a Job Coach with People Incorporated and prior to that he was a Professional Air Traffic Controller. He was the Vice President of PATCO Local #278 in Lexington, KY, was appointed a Kentucky Colonel and Ambassador of Labor by Kentucky Gov. John Brown in 1981, was Vice President of the Nautical Whalers Parrot Head Club and Camp Master @ Camp Cachalot. Paul was an avid fisherman, devout New York Giants Fan and enjoyed coaching and refereeing baseball and basketball games.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his four sons Paul Machado Jr. and his wife Kelly of Fall River, Christopher Machado and his wife Christine of Fall River, Patrick Machado and his Fiancé Kellie Miller of Acushnet and Brendan Machado of Fall River; five grandchildren Meaghan and Kaitlan Machado. Moira and Lauren Machado, and Holly Miller; beloved in-laws Robert & Kathleen Gauvin and Michael & Vivian Leary and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Good Shepherd Parish 1598 South Main St., Fall River. Visiting Hours Monday from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
