Marion P. Delaney

Marion P. (Gibney) Delaney, age 91, a lifelong resident of Fall River, passed away peacefully with her five children by her side on October 17, 2021 at RI Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late John E. Delaney, M.D.; they were married for 46 years until his passing in August 2001.

Born in Fall River on November 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Peter Aloysius Gibney and Florence (Smith) Gibney.

Marion was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Class of 1947 and a communicant of Holy Name Church in Fall River. She was a longtime member of the Fall River Country Club and an avid bridge player.

Mrs. Delaney is survived by her children, Michael Delaney and his wife, Janet, of Lincoln, RI, Edward Delaney and his wife, Jennifer, of Bristol, RI, Diane Delaney of Pawtucket, RI, Peter Delaney and his wife, Michelle, of Sudbury, MA and Susan Saeli and her husband, Frank, of Needham, MA; one sister, Eileen Gibney Darcy of Fall River; nine grandchildren, Kieran Delaney (Hannah), Caitlin Delaney, Laura Saeli, Caroline Saeli, Elise Delaney, Grace Delaney, Erin Delaney, Hannah Delaney and Sean Delaney.

Funeral Services will be private for the immediate family. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, Fall River.
