Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late V. Elsie (Sheret) Ashton-Allen and the late Clinton S. Ashton.
A 1959 graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, RI, she worked at Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI, retiring in 2002 after 41 years of service.
Marcia enjoyed listening to music, tending to her home and garden, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her youth she enjoyed bowling, placing first in the nation in an individual sanctioned duck pin bowling league, resulting in a television appearance on the Salty Brine Show.
She leaves a son, Steven S. Burton of Tiverton, RI and three grandchildren, Mason, Alec and Kailah.
A special thanks to the staff at Charlton Memorial and St. Luke’s Hospital’s Intensive Care Units, as well as the staff at Vibra Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit for their care and compassion as well as to family and friends for their love and support during difficult times.
Her Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00AM with a reception to follow in the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101. Burial private.
