Lawrence E. “Larry” Robinson, age 62, of Fall River, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at his residence. He was the husband of Kathleen A. “Kathy” (Fata) Robinson to whom he would have been married to for 19 years on June 29th.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Edward Robinson and the late Vara (Sisson) Kowalczyk, he had been a lifelong resident of the city.
He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War having been stationed in Baumholder, Germany and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the former Southeastern Massachusetts University S.M.U. now UMass Dartmouth.
Mr. Robinson worked for the Fall River School Department for over 35 years before retiring in 2007. He taught social studies and English for many years at Kuss Middle School and finished his career as a 5th grade teacher at Watson Elementary School. He enjoyed baseball, traveling and his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Tracy B. McGlinchey and her husband Kevin M. of Old Lyme, CT, one son, Todd L. Robinson and his wife Allison M. of Queens, NY, two sisters, Diana R. Robinson and Susan R. Rivet and her husband Dennis all of New Bedford, four grandchildren, Brynn E., Griffin S., and Carter P. McGlinchey and Sam D. Robinson, In-laws, Philip F. and Doris H. Fata of Fall River, many half brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Notre Dame Church, 529 Eastern Avenue, Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Salvation Army, 290 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720 or to the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeastern Massachusetts (Hospice), 502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
