Born in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Joseph and Viola (Devlin) Boyer he was a longtime resident of Fall River.
A graduate of Diman Regional Technical Vocational High School, he was a member of their Alumni Association and a member of the Diman Hall of Fame. A veteran of the United States Navy he served in the Korean Conflict as a Fireman 1st Class from 1950 to 1953 and was a member of the exclusive fraternity of honor, “The Chosin Few”. A Plant Engineer, he worked at St. Luke’s, Sturdy Memorial, Women and Infant’s, Charlton Memorial, and the former Truesdale Hospitals. Actively involved in his community, he was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, the Colonial Navy of Massachusetts, the New England Healthcare Engineers Society (NEHES), the National Association of Power Engineers of Fall River, Chapter #6, the American Legion Post 314 as Chaplain, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 486 as Chaplain, he was an umpire for the Columbus Park Little League and both a coach and player for Charlie’s Oil in the Greater Fall River Fast Pitch Softball League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children, Kenneth E. Boyer and his wife Susan of Westport, Ma., Donna-Rae Bergeron and her husband Robert of Winter Haven, Florida, Glenn J. Boyer and his partner Kathy Robinson of Fall River, Ma., Lynn M. Boyer-Pimentel and her husband Antonio of Tiverton, RI, Ronn J. Boyer of Buzzards Bay, Ma., and Dann M. Boyer and his wife Melissa of Swansea; stepsons, Paul J. Thompson and his partner Rebecca Elias of Los Angeles and Patrick B. Thompson and his wife Katelynn of Port Orchard, WA; adopted daughter, Rachel Njubi of Fall River; seven siblings, Albert Boyer, Ellen Nunes, Joseph Boyer, Leonard Boyer, Joanne Stewart, Raymond Boyer, Robert Boyer and the late Edward Boyer; grandchildren, Michael K Souza, Lynne Goffe and her partner Glen Pearson, Leighanne M. Boyer, Kendra Negron, Amanda Adams, Jonathan Boyer, Devin Smith, Spencer Boyer, Melanie Souto and her husband Justin, Corine Boyer and Sydney Boyer; six great-grandchildren, Cole, Kaitlyn, Ali, Matthew, Evan and Mason and several nieces and nephews.
