Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Maroon and Mary J. (Ganem) Louis, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Hallal was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1958. She worked in several elementary schools in the Fall River school system over a 30+ year period as a paraprofessional, retiring from Slade Elementary School.
She was actively involved in the Salvation Army Auxiliary for over 45 years and received the highest award, “The Others.” She was also a dedicated volunteer at St. Anthony of Padua Food Pantry in New Bedford, as well as a member of the Fall River Carousel Lions Club for over 45 years, receiving the highest recognition, “The Melvin Jones Fellowship“ award. Skilled in ceramics, she owned an art studio, “Serendipity Arts” in Fall River.
She is survived by two beloved daughters, Stacie Hallal-Moussa of Fall River and Elizabeth Hallal of Providence; one brother, Norman Louis; two sisters, Florence Attar and Sandra Assad; two cherished granddaughters, Dr. Rebecca Moussa and Rachel Moussa; several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 10:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 N. Eastern Ave, Fall River, MA 02723. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to St. Anthony of the Desert Church or The Salvation Army New Bedford 619 Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
