Joseph Joseph “Joe” Duarte, Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully, with his loving wife and daughter by his side on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband and high school sweetheart of Ruth A. (Shea) Duarte with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Amaral) Duarte he was a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1962 he went on to work as a buyer for
Fayva Shoes and then Morse Shoe, Inc. for 15 years. He and Ruth owned and operated
West Coast Video in Fall River for 9 years before their retirement in 1993.
A good day was a day spent either at the beach or on the golf course. He also enjoyed
traveling with Ruth.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jodi Duarte of Fall River; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Duarte and two great-granddaughters, Peyshence and Eminah.
He was the father of the late Gregory J. Duarte.
Private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place.
