Joao Mario Gomes

Joao Mario Gomes, age 75, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, at home. Born in Aveiro, Portugal, he was the beloved husband of the late Maria Adelaide (Bolhoes) Gomes. He was a loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather whose presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Joao was a proud veteran of the Portuguese military. Prior to retiring, Joao worked as a Machine Operator for Quaker Fabric Corporation in Fall River for many years.

Beyond his professional career, Joao enjoyed much time tending to his friends farm and never missed a chance to deliver fresh vegetables to his granddaughters. If you knew Joao, you knew you could always find him on his porch enjoying the weather, drinking an iced coffee and conversing with his neighbors and friends. Joao cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandchildren, who were the light of his eyes.

He is survived by his three grandchildren, Ashley B. DaCosta of Fall River, Ryan L. Sequeira of Bristol, Jerica B. Ponte of Fall River; four great-grandchildren, Paityn, Aiyla, Paisley, and Anthym; many nieces and nephews. He was the step father of the late Cecilia Sousa and Aries da Costa.
