Born in Fall River, a son of the late Edward P. and Natalie M. (Horton) Lyons, he had been a lifelong area resident.
A graduate of Bishop Stang High School and SMU now UMASS Dartmouth, he worked as a Field Assistant for the IRS for many years before his retirement in 2010.
Jim enjoyed watching his 4 grandsons play sports, reading, watching movies and taking trips to Ogunquit beach with his wife, Jean, of 49 years. He enjoyed a good debate and loved to have the last word!
He is survived by one son, Christopher Lyons and his wife Stacy of Somerset; one daughter, Bethany Knoettner and her husband Matthew of Westford, MA; four grandchildren, Connor and Brady Knoettner and Colin and Chace Lyons. He was the brother of the late Paul and Edward “Ted” Lyons.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held prior to his service from 9:30 to 11:00AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA, 01701.
