Geraldine "Gerri" Costa Alves

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Augustine and Mary-Jo (Albino) Costa, she had been a lifelong resident of the city.

She was a 1958 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and worked as a secretary for the Fall River School Department for many years.

She is survived by four sons, Manuel Alves of Fall River, Mark Alves and his wife Erin of Fall River, Michael Alves and his wife Lisa of Tiverton, Matthew Alves of Fall River, one daughter Mary Rose Alves, two brothers Dennis Costa and his wife Patricia “Pat” and Paul “Butchie” Costa and one sister Rose Marie Mello all of Fall River, four grandchildren: Baxter, Payton, Abigail and Bryan Alves and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to her service from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Sachem Skilled Nursing Center, 66 Central Street, East Bridgewater, MA 02333. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
