Florence A. Harrington

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Edward and Margaretta (Dillon) Malloy, she was the youngest of their 11 children and a lifelong resident of the city. She attended St. Peter and Paul's school and was a proud member of that parish for many years. She also attended BMC Durfee High School and was a graduate of Thibodeau’s Business School. Following her graduation she worked for Cherry & Webb department store and during World War II was employed at the Rationing Board. After her children were born, Florence was primarily a homemaker and at-home mother. She was a member of Holy Name Parish for more than 50 years and an active member of the Holy Name Church Women’s Guild, the Friends of St. Anne’s, and later the Sacred Heart Seniors.

Florence was the proud mother of three children, Ted, Beth and Brad. Her son Ted and wife Marcia (of East Taunton) have two sons, Chris (married to Shannon) and Ryan (married to Lara); her daughter Beth Brough and husband Fran of Fall River also had two children, Josh and Jamie (married to Wagner Rodrigues); Brad and his wife Annie Soisson of Winchester have three children, Maggie, Hannah, and Dillon. Florence was also blessed with four wonderful great-grandchildren, Cameron, Margot, Colin, and Landon, all of whom were a source of joy in her later years. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Florence was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, grand-mother and great grandmother. She and Ed were dedicated parents who always put their familiy's needs ahead of their own. They especially enjoyed spending time with their family as well as musical theater and travel.

Her funeral will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE, 178 Winter Street, Fall River with at funeral mass at 10 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Adams House, 1168 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720. Her burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
