Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Everett F. and Ellen M. (Hickey) Smith, and the husband of the late Theresa (Dufresne) Smith. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is predeceased by his brother John (Jack) Smith and his sister Nancy Accettullo. He was a lifelong resident of Fall River and spent many winters in Fort Myers, FL.
Everett was a 1951 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force stationed in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He attended Bridgewater State College and earned his degree in education in 1961. He worked for 35 years as a teacher and a principal in the Fall River school system. He loved his profession and even continued as a substitute teacher after his retirement in 1996. Everett was also a proud member of the Corky Row Society, Inc. and enjoyed his time there with his brother, sister and friends. He was an avid golfer and spent many years as a member of Montaup Country Club. Later he joined Fall River Country Club and could be seen frequently golfing with his sons. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved to let everyone know that he cheered for the Yankees. In his later years, he could always be found at his favorite restaurant the 110 Grill.
He is survived by his three sons, Bruce Smith and his wife Paula, Steve Smith and his wife Cheryl and Douglas Smith and his wife Leesa. He adored his grandchildren, Erica (Smith) Hunsinger, Timothy Smith and Travis Smith. He also leaves behind his two beloved great-grandchildren Reese Hunsinger and Mackenzie Smith.
