Edna Wanda (Tefts) Borges, age 101, passed on to eternal peace on Thursday, August 10, 2023 in the loving arms of her children. She was the wife of the late Adelino Borges with whom she shared 71 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2014.
Born on a 120-acre farm in Westfield, MA on December 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Abraham) Tefts.
Edna retired from Louis Hand in Fall River after 25 years.
A loving and generous woman, she was a devoted member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fall River, tending to the gardens and the altar, helping in the thrift shop and fundraising. Her family was her life’s calling, teaching by example. She enjoyed the natural world around her very much; Edna loved to travel, especially to visit family. An avid reader, she was very skilled at crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Fairbanks and her husband Paul of S. Dartmouth and Judy Tremblay and her husband Philip of Maine; one son Richard Borges and his wife Bernadette of Westport; seven grandchildren, David Borges and his wife Betheny, Kristin Borges, Erik Drewniak, Matthew Tremblay and his wife Julie, Stephanie Bennett, Danielle Tremblay and her husband Donald Scroneck and Michael Borges; five great-grandchildren, Emma Drewniak, Matthew Borges, Ryan Borges, Bryan Drewniak and Lily Tremblay; and many nieces and nephews. She was the great- grandmother of the late Zeke Drewniak and sister of the late Miriam Reed, Amelia Nash, Helena DeLuca, and William, Julius, John, Lewis, Adolf and August Tefts.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 12:00 PM in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 315 Warren St., Fall River. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Burial will be on Thursday, August 24th at 1:00 PM in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Westfield.
