Constance R. Marks

Constance R. (Brouillette) Marks, “Connie,” age 93, of Tiverton and Key Largo, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She was the wife of Dr. Antonio C. Marks to whom she had been married for 70 years.

Connie was born in Worcester and was the daughter of the late Henry and Mildred (Gauthier) Brouillette. She was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, class of 1946. She received a bachelor’s degree in Child Development from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in Education from Rhode Island College. After college, she became an elementary school teacher and remained in the profession until 1955.

Music was an important part of Connie’s life; she played the piano with joy and had a beautiful, trained voice. She sang in school, in church and in college. The matriarch of her family, Connie was a gifted seamstress, avid gardener and enthusiastic golfer. She and her husband loved to dance throughout their years together. She and her husband were members of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. where for over 50 years they spent most winters and developed many wonderful friendships with other members. An avid golfer and tennis player participating in many tournaments not only at Ocean Reef but at Card Sound Golf Club as well, among her favorites the “Hit n’ Giggle” and the “Kings & Queens”.

Connie is survived by five children: Nancy Smith of Bristol; Philip Marks and his wife Christina of Tiverton; Paula Marks of Groton, MA; John Marks and his wife Kelly of Tiverton; and Joan Marks Skane and her husband Edward of Mashpee, MA. Connie is survived by nine grandchildren: Christopher, William, Benjamin, Amanda, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Emily, Zachary and McCory. She also leaves a sister Joan and her husband Bill Hutchinson of South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 11:00 AM in St. Theresa’s Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Connie’s life. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in her honor be made to the philanthropy arm of Charlton Hospital. (https://www.southcoast.org/ways-to-give/).
