Carol A. Roberts

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Matthew J. Roberts and Julia M. (McMahon) Roberts, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1970 and the former SMU –now UMASS Dartmouth, Class of 1974.

Miss Roberts worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 33 years. She was Assistant Director for the Department

of Transitional Assistance in New Bedford and had formerly worked in the Wareham and Falmouth Offices.

An avid reader and Red Sox fan, she also enjoyed theater and plays.

Surviving: one sister – Nancy C. Roberts of Fall River, two brothers- James B. Roberts and his wife Lorraine of Fall River and Richard E. Roberts and his wife Lynn E. of Nashua, NH, nephews and niece: Ryan, Jeffrey, Keith and Kerry Roberts and James Roberts, Jr. She was also sister of the late Matthew J. Roberts, Jr.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, July 17. 2010 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Visiting Nurses of Southeastern MA, 502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720-4844 Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
