Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Thomas N. and Beatrice “Minnie” (Pittsley) Wood, he lived in New Bedford most of his life, moving to Fall River 6 years ago.
A Manager of Park Motors Body Shop in Fairhaven for over 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II, including at the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Wood was a Judo Instructor with a 3rd degree black belt.
Surviving in addition to his wife, two sons: Bruce and Jeffrey Wood , one daughter: Kaitlyn Wood, five sisters: Norma, Doris , Eleanor, Jean and Gloria, three grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Florence (Wood) Lade and Thomas Nelson Wood.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:00AM in the WARING-SULLVIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St. Fall River. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
