Born in Fall River, Art was the son of Catherine (Maddock) Plante and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He dedicated much of his life to serving his country and his community.
Art’s military career spanned over two decades, during which he served honorably with the United States Army through World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1969. Following his military service, he worked as a clerk for the United States Post Office for 20 years before retiring in 1992. He was a proud member of Woodrow L. Silvia VFW Post 5392 in Tiverton, RI.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon L. Viveiros of Fall River, Nancy A. Medeiros and her husband Luis of Somerset, and Karen Alves of Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Jarrod Medeiros and his wife Rose, Jamie Medeiros, and Justin Alves; five great-grandchildren, Julian Medeiros, Jace Medeiros, Hunter Poole, Flynn Medeiros, and Corinne Kettler; and two great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Aurora. He was the grandfather of the late Arthur Joseph Souza and Trevor Alves.
Art will be remembered for his service to his country, his devotion to his family, and his unwavering commitment to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
