Ann B. (Kuss) Feitelberg, of Fall River passed away May 2, 2010 in Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. Wife of the late Henry J. Feitelberg and daughter of the late John and Mary (Chorzempa ) Kuss, Ann was born in Fall River, where she remained a lifelong resident. With her warmth, a wink and her quick wit, she was known to draw laughter from loved ones and strangers alike.
A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Mrs. Feitelberg was the owner and president of Fall River Travel Bureau until her retirement in 1996 and a Director for the Feitelberg Insurance Agency. An avid traveler, she enjoyed a lifetime of travel throughout the world with her family, creating educational experiences and memories that brought her joy and which they will forever cherish.
A charter member of ALTRUSA, Mrs. Feitelberg was one of three recipients of an award for 50 years of dedicated service to the Club upon its 50th anniversary in 2009. A member of the Friends of St. Anne’s Hospital, she was named Friend of the Year in 2009.
Deeply rooted in the community, religious, and proud of her Polish heritage, she was very philanthropic, supporting numerous Catholic Charities as well as several other causes throughout her life. A communicant of Holy Name Church, she was a member of its Woman’s Guild. Mrs. Feitelberg was a member of the Fall River Woman’s Club, active with the Marine Museum in Fall River and a long-time member of Hazards Beach Club in Newport.
Surviving Mrs. Feitelberg are her son - Karl J. Feitelberg and his wife Sonya J. of Kingston, MA. She was also mother of the late Barbara Vasconcellos. There were three additional children whom she loved and raised as her own: Joseph H. Feitelberg of Westport and Boston who survives and the late Nancy Feitelberg Keating and the late John David Feitelberg. Also surviving are sisters-Stella Souza and Bernice Dunse both of Fall River, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Friday May 7, 2010 at 9:30AM from the WARING- SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St. Fall River followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St. Fall River. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7PM.
