Velia M. Gonzalez

Velia M. Gonzalez, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, June 29, 2014 in Falfurrias, Texas. She was born on March 30, 1931 to Juan Maldonado and Julia Garcia Maldonado in San Diego, Texas. Velia graduated from Benavides High School as her class Valedictorian in 1950. She was a loving housewife, mother and home health provider for many years. Velia was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by the warm embrace of the Lord; her parents; her husband of over 58 years, Octavio Gonzalez, Sr.; her son, Octavio Gonzalez, Jr.; sister, Lydia Ramirez and three brothers, Juan, Carlos and Pete Maldonado. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her two sons, Juan Ramon (Ana Lisa) Gonzalez of Falfurrias and Ricardo (Melissa) Gonzalez of Kingsville, Texas; her daughter, Linda A. (Javier) Saenz of Falfurrias; brother, Reynaldo (Dane) Maldonado of New Braunfels, Texas ; two sisters, Vengie (Gorgonio) Garza of Falfurrias and Maria Elva (Tony) Galaviz of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael Saenz, Daniel Saenz, Juan Gonzalez, Jr., Jaime Rene Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez, II, Octavio Gonzalez, III and Samantha Gonzalez; one great-grandchild, Selena Kristina Gonzalez and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Michael Saenz, Daniel Saenz, Jaime Gonzalez, Ricardo Gonzalez, II, Steven Garza and Romeo Ramirez.

Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Interment will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
