San Juanita “Janie” Hernandez entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 65. She was born on May 10, 1958 to Jesus Benavidez and Estella Buenrostro Benavidez in Falfurrias, Texas. Having recently retired from a 14 year-long tenure as a cook at the Brooks County Detention Center, Janie spent most of her time cherishing moments with her family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jesus “Chuy” Benavidez.
Janie leaves behind to treasure her memories her husband, Alejandro Hernandez of Falfurrias; her mother, Estella Benavidez of Falfurrias; two sons, Nathan (Dominique) Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas and Johnathan (Chyanne) Benavidez of Corpus Christi; brothers, Jesus Benavidez, Jr. of Houston, Texas; Raul Benavidez of Premont, Texas; Ovidio Benavidez of Pennsylvania; Ruben Benavidez of Laredo and Rene Benavidez of Corpus Christi; 15 grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m.
