It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Roberto (La Jax) M. Garza who entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his residence in Hebbronville. He was born on August 15, 1944, to Encarnacion Garza and Maria M. Garza.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maria Ernestina Rodriguez, Idolina Hernandez, Adelina Gonzalez, Roseana Cantu and Mary Lou Salazar; brothers, Feliciano Garza and Israel Garza.
Roberto was a sports enthusiast. His love for football, baseball, basketball, and track kept him very happy though out his lifetime. He was a Texan and Astros fanatic.
He was a longtime employee of Canales Concrete. He was also employed by JHCISD for 18 years as a bus driver. Roberto loved taking the players to their games. His other passion was going on trips to gamble with family and friends.
Roberto leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be treasured by his wife of 43 years, Oralia R. Garza of Hebbronville; son, Enrique (Martha) Escamilla of Hebbronville; his brother, David Garza of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and a granddaughter Kristina (Leo) Arredondo and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be A.V. Canales, Trey Sciaraffa, J.A. Garza, Robert Gonzalez, Ignacio Hernandez, and Victor Cantu Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Henry Escamilla.
Rosary will be prayed by Azalia Perez at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville and services will conclude at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
