Reynaldo M. Carbajal, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at his son’s residence in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 82. Reynaldo was born on May 21, 1939 to Eulalio Carbajal, Sr. and Filomena Mendez Carbajal in Sejita, Texas. He worked for many years as a Backhoe Operator and Truck Driver for Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company. He was a true cowboy and rancher who loved rodeos, ropings, trail rides and horseback riding. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world and he adored them.
Reynaldo is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Matilde C. Salazar and many half-siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Celia Barrera Carbajal of Falfurrias; sisters, Jovita (Alan) Chapa of Kingsville, Texas and Leonor (Crisanto) Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Norma (Richard) Saenz of Falfurrias and Nora L. Hofstetter (Gerardo Vargas) of Falfurrias; son, Reynaldo (Pamela) Carbajal, Jr. of Falfurrias; 12 grandchildren, Alberto (Priscilla) Garcia, Jr., Richard (Desiree) Saenz, Jr., Laryssa A. Saenz, Amanda Lee Hofstetter, Luther Dean (Stephanie) Hofstetter, Jr., Makayla Rae Hofstetter; Bert (Rebecca) Arevalo, Jr., Tony (Bassy) Arevalo, Jessica Arevalo, Kristina Arevalo (Jeremy Vonree), Peter Jacob Arevalo and Reynaldo Carbajal, III; five great-grandchildren, Kalinah Montenegro, Zackery Jeramiah Saenz, Marcos Anthony Saenz, Kaidynce Marie Hofstetter and Cody Dean Hofstetter; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and his outdoor dog and companion, Buddy.
Pallbearers will be Richard Saenz, Jr., Reynaldo Carbajal, III, Gerardo Vargas, Marty Martinez, Richard Saenz, Sr. and Tony Arevalo. Honorary Pallbearers are Reynaldo Carbajal, Jr. and Homer Garcia.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Falfurrias. Services will conclude with Burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
