Rene A. Mejia, devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, lost a very short battle with cancer on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 70. He was born on October 30, 1941 to Deodoro and Ofelia Porras Mejia in Brooks County. After graduating from Falfurrias High School Rene served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Rene married his sweetheart, Maricela Rodriguez on February 6, 1966. He received a few licenses from Texas A&I University and later worked as a Pipeline Field Gauger for Exxon Mobil until his retirement. Rene also became a Real Estate, Broker and Appraisal Agent and was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Rene is preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Eliazar Mejia. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Maricela R. Mejia of San Antonio, Texas; two sons Ricardo Rene Mejia of San Antonio, TX and Romeo Rene (Amalia “Molly”) Mejia of Mission, Texas; three beautiful grandchildren, Jake, GiGi and Lola Mejia; numerous cousins and a host of friends. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved him.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Interment will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park. .
