Nancy Lu Cannon Akers was born to Nancy Elizabeth Cannon and John Atkins Cannon on March 17, 1933 and went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2012 at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Jim Charles Hay and granddaughter, Megan Troell. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Akers; daughters Patricia (Gilbert) Troell, Cheryl (Jeff) Crews, Nancy Sue Akers; grandchildren Matthew Troell, Michelle (Ryan) Mankoff, Amanda (Carlos) Gutierrez, Stephine (Shane) Menn, Billy Ray Troell; great-grandchildren Megan, Elijah, Micah & Adlai Gutierrez; Makenna & Emma Mankoff; Cannon, Hartlee & Sutherlin Menn; siblings LaRue (Jack) Anderson, John (Patsy) Cannon, SueJo (Gary) Vollmering; sister-and brother-in law Don Akers and Nadine (Pete) Dickens. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews and loving extended family members. B-Ma, as she was lovingly known, will be missed greatly by all her family and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville, TX on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 6pm-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Hebbronville, TX on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:00am. Interment will be held at the Greenhill Cemetery in Hebbronville, TX. following the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy's honor to the South Texas Children's Home or Megan's Lighthouse (P.O. Box 399, Hebbronville, TX 78361).
