Minerva “Minnie” Mata Sanchez entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at a hospital in Alice, Texas at the age of 69. She was born on August 20, 1952 to Silvestre Mata and Manuela Garza Mata in Alice, Texas. Minnie married the love of her life, Lucio C. Sanchez, on August 9, 1970 and together they raised three children in Falfurrias, Texas. Minnie was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and enjoyed helping to shape young girls into responsible women. She made sure to keep herself involved in her children's school activities by always being present at their events.
She later worked as a Driver for Le Fleur Transportation for over 15 years until her retirement. She was the most proud of her children and grandchildren and made sure that they knew she loved them. She was very family oriented and always wanted her family together for any plans they may have had. She was also a very blunt person and was never afraid to speak her mind to anyone who needed to hear it. She never missed her bi-weekly pedicures and manicures dates with her daughter. She loved cruising around town to keep busy and to visit with family and friends. She also loved animals and had many pets throughout her life.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents; her parents-in-law, Roberto C. Sanchez and Herminia “Amelia” Carbajal Sanchez and her infant child.
She leaves behind to cherish her many memories and life lessons, her husband, Lucio C. Sanchez, Sr. of Falfurrias; sons, Lucio (Lori Garza Flores) Sanchez, Jr. of Alice and Rene Samuel (Andrea) Sanchez of Pflugerville, Texas; daughter, Monica Lynn (Baldo Barrera) Sanchez of Falfurrias; close family friend that she considered a daughter, Gloria Lopez of Falfurrias; brothers, Ramiro (Janie) Longoria of Falfurrias and Patricio (Cynthia) Mata of Alice; sisters, Maricela Lopez of Falfurrias and Melba (Joe) Hernandez of Edinburg, Texas; her cousin whom she saw as a sister, Delia G.
