Marcial “Marty” R. Martinez entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on May 29, 1942 to Manuel T. Martinez and Consuelo R. Martinez in Falfurrias, Texas and was blessed with 81 years of life. Marcial served in the US Army and later was a member of the LULAC Council 1.
Marcial worked as a foreman for the Corpus Christi Army Depot for over 32 years until his retirement. He was also a lifelong rancher and dedicated a lot of his time to the cattle at his 4M Ranch. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to baseball and his favorite team, the NY Yankees. Above all else, Marcial was a family man. He cherished his wife and loved his children, grandchildren and family members. He was an incredible friend to many and never shied away from lending a helping hand.
Marcial was reunited in Heaven with his parents; brothers, Manuel and Miguel Martinez; parents-in-law, Ignacio and Angelita Lopez; brothers-in-law, Alfredo Garcia, Isidro “Lefty” Lopez and Isaac “Truman” Lopez and sisters-in-law, Natalia Zamora and Olga Lopez.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Hermalinda L. Martinez; son, Marcial (Martha P.) Martinez, Jr.; daughter, Melissa I. Martinez all of Corpus Christi; sister, Merida Garcia of Santa Monica, Texas; four granddaughters, Brenda Martucci, Vanessa R. Romano, Patricia Y. White and Wendy M. Rangel; two great-grandchildren, Gio Martucci and Aaliyah Herrera; special friends Ben Marinez, Herculano Garcia and the rest of his Tuesday coffee group friends and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Rafael Martinez, Oscar Garza, Chris Lopez, Lee Lopez, Roel Garza and Ben Marinez. Honorary Pallbearers are Rafael Montalvo, Ignacio “Nacho” Lopez, Herculano Garcia and Paul Perez.
Rosary will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
