Lonnie Charles Lytle (69) passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2021. He was born on April 26th 1951 in Falfurrias, TX to Floyd and Charlene Lytle who doted on their son. He grew up alongside his brother and best friend Larry in Premont, TX where he graduated high school in 1969. He attended and graduated from Texas A&I University. He was in the ROTC program and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. While in college, Lonnie proudly volunteered to serve in Vietnam and was in basic training when the war ended. He returned back to college to finish his service in the National Guard until 1977. When Lonnie returned he went searching for the girl he took on a date before he went off to boot camp and when he found her they started a lifelong journey that lasted over 48yrs. Deborah and Lonnie Lytle were married on September 1st 1973 and settled in Corpus Christi, TX where they raised their two children Justin and Jessica.
He worked as an Auditor for Nueces’s County but his real passion was for hunting which he shared with his son and later on with his grandson Justin II. He would spend his weekends hunting at his grandfather’s ranch taking along his beloved dogs over the years. Lonnie was loved by many and was always trying to get everyone to smile and laugh; he was known for his story telling and jokes. He always enjoyed 60’s music and was always putting on concerts in the living room for the family. He passed down his love for music to his daughter and it was something they enjoyed together throughout the years.
After retiring Deborah and Lonnie spent the past few years driving around TX with their dogs enjoying life. They spent their days with him BBQing and listening to music while she worked in the yard. He will be deeply missed by his family and everyone whose lives he touched. Lonnie’s stories will continue on and he will always be in our hearts. He is now out on the ranch hunting with a big smile and his dogs, that’s how we will always remember him.
